How To measure

IN-RECESS FIT

1. Measurements are required to be in inches (in) or millimeters (mm).

2. The depth of the reveal where the shutter or frame will be mounted needs to be measured, to ensure no mullions, handles or key locks etc. will interfere with the operation of the blades when open. This depth will then determine the framing options available to suit the requested blades.

When ordering with hidden tilt rods, measured from the front edge of the frame, 2.5in (63mm) blades need 2.2in (55mm), 3.5in (89mm) blades need 2.7in (67mm) and 4.5in (114mm) blades need 3.2in (80mm) clear depth.

3. When measuring for the inside reveal (recess) fit, as shown in figure 1, the shutters should be measured in three places: across the width and the height, and the smallest measurements should be provided.

OUT-FACE FIT

1. Measurements are required to be in inches (in) or millimeters (mm).

2. When ordering face (outside) fit shutters it is suggested to use the matching frame sizes to ensure the blades clear any architraves or walls that the frames are being mounted to.

3. When measuring for face (outside) fit, the shutters should be measured in three places across the width and the height (see figure 1, same as in-recess fit) and the largest measurement should be provided. This measurement will be used for calculating the outside of the shutter frame.

If the opening has an architrave (figure 2), the OUT measurements are usually from the outside of the architrave to the outside of the opposite architrave. If there is no architrave, add the width of the frame to the recess measurement to find the outside of frame measurements.

4. Pay attention to obstacles that may affect the size of the shutter frame, such as power sockets, corners, protruding window sills, etc. You may consult Hisilent for more information free of charge. Email: info@hisilentshutters.ca.
